Create your first resume

Start an editable resume and add the information employers need.

Before you start

Sign in to QuickCV. A Free account includes one editable resume. If you already have one and want another, QuickCV shows this when you try: "You've reached the limit of 1 free resume. Upgrade to Pro to tailor resumes for every job, export PDFs, unlock AI fixes, find job matches, publish a resume website, and share tracked links." Compare Free and Pro if you're not sure yet.

Create your resume

  1. Open Resumes — from the dashboard, the main navigation, or the command palette (⌘K / Ctrl K).
  2. Select Create Resume.
  3. Give it a title that identifies its purpose — a role, company, or application, such as "Senior Product Designer — Acme Co."
  4. Add your personal details, then add the sections that apply to your experience.

QuickCV opens the editor with a live preview beside your content. Start with the essentials — name, contact details, and a summary — and build out sections like Experience and Education as you go. Edit resume details and sections covers every section QuickCV supports and how each one behaves.

Starting from something you already have

If you already have a resume elsewhere — a PDF, a LinkedIn export, or a QuickCV or JSON Resume backup — import an existing resume instead of re-typing everything from scratch.

Expected result

Your new resume appears in your resume library and opens in the editor. QuickCV saves your changes automatically as you work — watch for the Saved indicator near the editor.

If the library was empty, this resume replaces the empty-state prompt. If you've reached the Free plan's one-resume limit, keep working in your existing resume, delete it only if you genuinely don't need it anymore, or upgrade for unlimited resumes and the rest of Pro.

How to build a resume from scratch walks through structuring a first resume if you want more than the QuickCV-specific steps above.
